【The Lost Rivers of Tokyo 1】蛇崩川緑道・目黒区編 Jyakuzure-gawa ryokudou・Meguro Ward

蛇崩川緑道の続き。今度は目黒区編

The sequel to the Jyakuzure-gawa ryokudo. This time the river flows into the Meguro-ward. 

 Most part of the map that has a white back ground is the Setagaya Ward, and the details are not shown here on this map that is published by the Meguro Ward. As the red bold line shows, the Jyakuzure gawa ryokudo lies accross the Setagaya Ward and crosses over to the Meguro Ward.

目黒区役所発行のこの地図では世田谷区の詳細な部分は描かれていません。白い部分が世田谷区で、蛇崩川緑道は地図の赤い線が示すように世田谷を越え目黒区に突入します。

It is a bit difficult to see, but the color and the material of the ground changes from brick like red color to a concrete like grey color after passing the road that runs horizontally. The other side with the concrete ground is still the Jyakuzure gawa ryokudo but is now governed by the Meguro Ward.

少し見づらいですが、水平に通っている車道を越え反対側に進むと歩道の素材がレンガのような赤色から、コンクリートに変わるのが見えるかと思います。車道を越えた先も蛇崩川緑道ですが、色の変わり目が区の変わり目でもあるのです。

Now I am in the Meguro Ward. It is still the same Ryokudo, but looks very different. 

これでもう目黒区に入りました。同じ緑道ですがかなり違って見えますね。

Concrete, indeed.

コンクリートですね。

Another difference between the Setagaya Ward and the Meguro Ward is the park light. The Setagaya Ward placed brown park lights with a pink sticker that shows the serial number of the park light. But the Meguro ward has a different park light, and this is it.

他にもある世田谷区と目黒区の違いは公園灯です。世田谷区の公園灯は茶色で、各公園灯の番号が記載されているピンク色のシールがありましたが目黒区の公園灯はこれです。

There seems to be another road that cuts accross the Ryokudo.

また緑道を横切る車道らしきものが見えてきました。

Wow! This edge of the ryokudo must have been a bridge when it was a river! The brown pole on the right side says 蛇崩橋.(Jyakuzure hashi,  literally meaning Jyakuzure bridge)

So maybe the road that intersects with the ryokudo is running on top of what used to be a bridge!

おお！この緑道の端の部分は昔橋だったみたいです。蛇崩橋と書いてありますね。ということは緑道を横切る車道は昔の橋だった場所の上を通っているということかもしれません！

橋の横には蛙が。

and next to the frog is a turtle.

そして蛙の隣には亀が。

Then comes another bridge with the name of 蛇崩下橋.(Jyakuzure-shita bridge, lieterally meaning lower jyakuzure bridge)

This picture may be more easier to see, but the ground seems to rise as if it is a bridge, when a road intersects with a ryokudo. 

そしてまた別の橋が現れました。蛇崩下橋名前はこの写真のほうがわかりやすいかも知れませんが、だいたい車道が横切る部分は本当に橋だったかのように土地が盛り上がっています。

The next animal in the next bridge, 川端橋(kawabata-bridge, literally meaning edge of the river bridge) seems to look like a pidgeon.

次の橋の川端橋にいる動物は鳩のようです。

Then the ground becomes much lower after you see the two pidgeons.

そして二羽の鳩を見たあとには地面が下がります。

After a few more minutes of walking, I start to see hear a trains running near by. The material of the ground changes from concrete to asphalt, and I realize that the sound is from the Nakameguro Station.

もう数分歩くと電車の音が聞こえるようになりました。床の素材もコンクリートからアスファルトに変わり、電車の音が中目黒駅から聞こえていることに気づいたのでした。

While walking down the ryokudo that has changed its surface to asphalt, I see a map of the ryokudo and I realize that this is the end of the Jyakuzure-gawa ryokudo.

アスファルトになった緑道を下っていくと緑道の案内をみつけ、蛇崩川緑道の終わりだと気づきました。

 

The train appears and the rokudo disappears.

電車が現れ、緑道が姿を消しました。

The first ryokudo ended by the Nakameguro station, and I found a good old school rice cracker store that seems to have been around the Nakameguro station for quite a while. 

中目黒駅で終わった最初の緑道の先に昔ながらのせんべい屋を見つけました。
